State offices and local Town and Villages will be flying flags at half-mast in honor of the shooting victims in Orlando.
Flags will fly at half-staff at all public buildings and grounds, military posts and naval stations and vessels until sunset on June 16, Obama said in a statement. The shooter, identified as 29-year-old United States citizen Omar Mateen, was shot dead by the police.
The State of IL stands with those in the State of Florida, and in honor of the victims, I am ordering all flags to be lowered to half-staff immediately. Police say a gunman wielding an assault-type rifle opened fire, killing at least 50 people and wounding dozens.
“I am shocked and saddened by the senseless attack that occurred early this morning in Orlando”.
“On behalf of the state of IN, we extend our prayers to the victims, their families, and the Orlando community”, Pence said. The time is now for us as one to stand together in love against hatred and terror toward any person or persons based on race, gender, and/or sexual orientation.
Larry Hogan also ordered flags to fly at half-staff. Flags for Cadet Winey should remain at half-staff until sunset on the day of his funeral, Saturday, June 18.
