Mississippi National Guard Moving Recruiting Offices
National Guard Public Information Officer Lt. Col. Christian Patterson told WLOX News, “The store-front recruiting offices will close as soon as possible to make sure these soldiers and airmen carrying out that mission are as safe as can be”.
The OKNG expects the decisions to arm personnel will be made this week and quickly put into practice across the state.
In Florida, Gov. Rick Scott ordered the National Guard to move its recruiters from six storefront locations around the state and put them in armories until the storefronts could be better secured. “These men and women put their lives on the line to protect us, and they deserve the opportunity to defend themselves from violent attacks”.
When asked what the increase in domestic arms and the reexamination of military facility security would look like, Patterson explained that “the Guard has a presence in 72 of 82 counties in Mississippi”, he said.
Armed citizens in cities like Huntsville, Alabama, Savannah, Georgia, and Dothan, Alabama, have been photographed standing outside recruitment centers. We’ve had some interesting things happen in Indiana, some threats of people who were caught doing things they shouldn’t have done.
“I want to join in those who are calling for greater security at our recruiting stations and military installations”.
He also declined to discuss security procedures for its recruiting centers, or whether officials are reviewing different ways to protect service members.
After the recent shooting in Chattanooga, TN, governors across the country have been taking a stand about protecting our military personnel.
