Missouri Democrats Cleaver and McCaskill join growing outrage over Bannon appointment

Bannon, the former chairman of Breitbart News and the CEO of Trump’s campaign, has provoked similar outrage among national groups that seek to protect religious minorities.

This might not be the only response to Bannon’s appointment, but it’s one from the highest levels of power in Washington – even if Reid will soon be free to say and do what he wants from the safety of retirement.

“If you look at the leaders of capitalism at that time, when capitalism was I believe at its highest flower and spreading its benefits to most of mankind, nearly all of those capitalists were strong believers in the Judeo-Christian West”, Bannon said, according to a transcript published by Buzzfeed Tuesday.

Members of Trump’s campaign have dismissed criticism of Bannon’s appointment by pointing to his Harvard business degree and surprise success defeating Democrat Hillary Clinton. “I would love to share the stage with him and others, believe me”. Bannon said, the Huffington Post reported.

Trump’s camp rejects any suggestion that Bannon is a bigoted extremist, saying critics should look at his full resume – and emphasizing his record as a former naval officer, Goldman Sachs managing partner and Hollywood producer.

Bannon then added a dose of xenophobia, adding, “Catholics want as many Hispanics in this country as possible because the church is dying in this country, right, if it was not for the Hispanics”.
