Missouri senator says she has breast cancer
United States Senator Claire McCaskill from Missouri announced on Monday that she has breast cancer. Sen.
In an announcement on her Tumblr account, Mrs. McCaskill said she learned of the diagnosis “very recently” through a regular mammogram.
Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., tweeted that he would “step in in any way I can to help” while McCaskill seeks treatment.
She goes on to say that she expects to make a full recovery, and will be going to St. Louis for the next three weeks to receive treatment. She said she will also submit questions that could be asked at Senate hearings.
Warren wasn’t the only congressperson to show her support for McCaskill. Our best wishes for a speedy recovery. A member of the Armed Services Committee, she has been at the forefront in efforts to combat sexual assault in the military.
McCaskill, a leader in the legislative fight against sexual assault in the military and on college campuses, first won election to the Senate in 2006, securing a second term in 2012 over then-Rep.
