Missouri Suspends Starting QB for USC Game
The University of Missouri suspended starting quarterback Maty Mauk on Tuesday for disciplinary reasons.
According to the athletic department, both players have been suspended for violating team rules.
Per the announcement, Mauk’s “status going forward will be evaluated after the game”, according to the Daily Tribune.
Freshman quarterback Drew Lock is expected to start against the Gamecocks.
Via an email late Monday, the team closed Tuesday practices, a portion of which is typically open to media members, for the remainder of the season. Through four games this season the junior has 654 passing yards, 6 TD passes and 4 interceptions. Lock has passed for 225 yards and one touchdown with one interception in limited time.
In his only series at Kentucky, Lock drove the offense past midfield and into field goal range but was sacked on third down.
Eddie Printz, a sophomore, and Marvin Zanders, a redshirt freshman, are listed as even for the No. 3 job on the latest depth chart.
Cuellar signed with the Tigers from the City College of San Francisco.
