Mitchell Johnson Has Always Been a Special Bowler: Sachin Tendulkar
“Good luck to Johnson who has always been a special bowler”.
Retired fast bowler Mitchell Johnson has revealed Phillip Hughes’ tragic death made him to question his aggressive approach to the game.
Tendulkar, who played alongside Johnson during the pacer‘s stint at Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), termed the 34-year-old bowler as someone special.
Johnson announced that he will retire from all forms of global cricket at the end of the second Test against New Zealand that concluded in Perth on Tuesday.
Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar was among several current and former cricketers who heaped praise on the Australian pace spearhead.
But despite his collection of 313 Test wickets, few will be able to forget the Barmy Army’s catchy chant that followed Johnson around from the moment it was unveiled in Perth on Boxing Day 2013. It’s been an incredible ride. “But it really is a great challenge and he’s been one of the best players I’ve played against”, Johnson told Inside Cricket on Thursday (November 19).
“I watched people like Curtly Ambrose, Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thomson and seeing how aggressive they were, it’s just part of the game”.
Mitchell Johnson have had hundreds of encounters with batsmen on the 22-yard strip called pitch.
Former Australia pacer Damien Fleming tweeted: “Unemotional scenes from Johnson at WACA”.
“AB de Villiers, he’s one outstanding player of our generation”.
“That was the first real time out there where I really just felt I couldn’t be at my best for the team”.
In an exclusive interview with Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Mitch Johnson has opened himself up and mentioned in detail the factors that affected his illustrious career at the highest level.
