Mitt Romney hosts political sleepover for Chris Christie and Marco Rubio
Mitt and Ann Romney will have dinner with Christie and his wife, Mary Pat, and let the Christies sleep over, as well, according to the report.
The newspaper quoted an unnamed Romney aide as saying the ex- GOP presidential candidate heard the Rubios and the Christies would be in Wolfeboro for the holiday weekend, so he invited them to spend the evening with him and his wife, Ann. Romney is still seen as a power broker with a strong base of donors who will follow his orders in supporting the candidate of his choice. Florida U.S Sen. Marco Rubio will also be marching in the parade and Bloomberg News reported that he will also stay with the Romney’s tonight as their guest. Both candidates are scheduled to march in Wolfeboro’s Fourth of July parade.
Christie says he’s grateful for the invitation and suspects some politics will be discussed.
Christie left for New Hampshire after announcing his presidential bid this past Tuesday in his hometown of Livingston, N.J.
A Rubio spokesman declined to comment.
Christie was a top surrogate for Romney’s 2012 campaign and was considered a potential vice presidential contender.
He traveled to New Hampshire to endorse Romney for President in 2011 and was was a featured speaker at the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa, where Romney accepted the GOP nomination.
