MLS All-Star shuffle: Roster changes ahead of game against Spurs
The Galaxy will be represented by three players in Wednesday’s Major League Soccer All-Star Game.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of that game, Pochettino indicated he is not sure Yedlin is part of his plans, suggesting the youngster will have to prove himself in the coming weeks.
“This is a special one for me because it’s against Tottenham, my club, the club where I felt I made my name and had a big impact”.
Gerrard featured on a list of four withdrawals released by MLS.
Tottenham striker Harry Kane is looking forward to his first pre-season hit-out and claims the MLS All-Star Game will be ideal preparation with the Premier League less than two weeks away.
In their place, Mastroeni, who as the manager of the hosting Colorado Rapids will also coach the All-Star team, has named five alternates, selecting Columbus Crew South Carolina teammates Ethan Finlay and Waylon Francis, Galaxy pair Juninho and Gyasi Zardes and Rapids midfielder Sam Cronin for the new 23-man squad.
Kyle Walker said he and his fellow Tottenham defenders will have to be on their toes against the talent-laden MLS side.
Pochettino joked, however, that as an Argentine, he would embrace a physical contest before adding: “We expect a very tough game but I would never not shake hands with the opposing coach”. “It is like other players, he has the same opportunity to show his quality and maybe, why not, stay in the squad for the next season to compete in the Premier League”.
