MNS opposes release of Pakistani film ‘Bin Roye’
However, the movie would be released as scheduled all over India on Friday to coincide with the Eid festival.
“We don’t want a Pakistani film here when they are attacking us”, said Ameya Khopkar, head of the MNS’s film wing, to Mumbai Mirror.
Khopkar contended that Pakistan allegedly sponsors terror in the country, particularly Maharashtra, and it does not permit Indian artistes to work in that country, and warned against releasing the movie. MNS wrote a letter to the B4U on July 10, whereas on July 13, the company has replied, not to exhibit it in the state.
“Bin Roye” will star Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed in its lead roles.
The letter had claimed that if B4U ignored their objections and went ahead to release the film in the state, then they would protest in MNS style, indicating that theatres screening the film would be vandalized. “In case Bajrangi [Bhaijaan] does end up being delayed, we’ve already made a decision to screen two other films, Terminator Genisys and Wrong No”, Imtiaz noted. “That is a major achievement in itself”.
After “Bin Roye“, the Pakistani actress is also preparing for her big Bollywood debut with “King of Bollywood” Shah Rukh Khan. “It’s not that you have an abundance of Pakistani films releasing throughout the year that cinema-owners can decide to stop showing Indian films in favour of local content”, stated Gultasab.
When approached to give his opinion on the matter, Duraid Qureshi, CEO of Hum Network refused to comment.
