MNS ultimatum to Pakistani actors: Leave India in 48-hour deadline
On being asked what will producers of film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in which Pakistan actor Fawad Khan is playing an important role, do when the film is nearly ready for release in theatres, she said, “it’s their problem”. In a recent spate of words, the film workers” association of Indian nationalist party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) “ordered all Pakistani actors working in India to leave the country in 2 days’ time. It’s not a veiled threat but a direct threat. “But we will not let these films be released with these actors”. Pakistani artists don’t earn anything in their country but in India they get name, fame and money.
She said they had sent letters to the two actors asking them to stop their projects and leave Mumbai.
A highly upsetting news about Pakistani artists being threatened in India with a 48-hour deadline to leave the country is already out. “If they fail to do so, we will deal with them”, Khopkar warned. MNS have clearly mentioned that they will halt the films from being released in Maharastra as both the movies star Pakistani actors in the films (Fawad Khan starring in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Mahira Khan starring in Raees).
Here’s what the top Pakistani actors and artistes are up to in Bollywood at present.
In short, India should welcome Pakistani artistes and dissidents as long as they don’t pose any security threats – they usually don’t. We have good actors in India. For now, we are concentrating on actors.
The “abandon ship” move from the party has led to a mixed response by Indians who took to Twitter to express their sentiments. We have always shook hands with Pakistan and in return what have they done? Look at what happened when director Kabir Khan went to Pakistan. Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya on Friday slammed Indian producers and accused them of “breeding and feeding Pakistani artists”.
