Mobile expected to intro “big, bold” plan soon
Last week, T-Mobile United States announced that beginning July 15, customers will have access to unlimited voice calling to and from Canada and Mexico as well as higher-speed LTE services when traveling in Canada and Mexico for no additional fee. Credit: T-Mobile US, Inc.
This latest was announced in a video blog with racing-stripe-wearing CEO John Legere as “Mobile Without Borders”. Legere is referring to AT&T’s purchase of Iusacell and Nextel Mexico earlier this year in an effort to launch a “North American Mobile Service Area”. Meanwhile, T-Mobile has struck deals with Mexican and Canadian carriers to bring about its own cross-border network now. “Last year; a full 35% of all calls and 55% of all travel from the US was to Mexico & Canada – the benefits of one simple plan that covers all three of those countries is obvious”. The timing could be important as analysts expect T-Mobile United States to again be the market’s leader in signing up new smartphone connections, which are seen as more lucrative financially than nontraditional device connections. In an interview with CNET, he said that something bold and cool is on its way, and people are bound to admire it. The T-Mobile’s new plan is all intended towards the customers of its rival firms as it aims to win them, this is indeed a common tactic used by companies to expand their consumer base.
Uncarrier events are undeniably paying offWhile Mobile Without Borders won’t directly add any revenue to T-Mobile’s bottom line (because, well, it’s not charging anything for it), it’s likely still a smart move for the carrier. She said customer churn has gone down in addition to T-Mobile attracting new customers from other carriers.
