Mobile’s revenue rises 6.8 percent
Analysts on average had expected a profit of 30 cents per share, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.Revenue rose 6.8 percent $7.85 billion, but missed the average analyst estimate of $8.29 billion. T-Mobile has successfully delivered over 1 million total net customer additions for the past ten quarters and more than 2 million in five of the past seven quarters. The company added 2.3 million net customers in the quarter.
T-Mobile did see a dip in the average monthly revenue it gets for each of those postpaid phone customers. The Company also reported 242,000 mobile broadband net customer additions in the quarter.
The short interest on T-Mobile increased by 3.33 million shares to 20.20 million shares on October 26 – placing huge bets on the stock to fall.
AT&T added more than 2 million customers as well, though its gains came mostly from cars and connected devices, as well as its Cricket prepaid business rather than from core smartphone additions. Estimates suggest earnings per share (EPS) to increase from $0.05 in 3QFY14 to $0.35 in 3QFY15.
T-Mobile reported a decrease in branded postpaid churn rate from 1.48% in 2QFY14 to 1.32% in 2QFY15, improving 16 basis points (bps). “On top of this, we expect postpaid ARPU to stabilize sequentially, which should lead to low double-digit service revenue growth and drive EBITDA growth (along with device lease accounting) up 50% year-over-year”.
Among the other figures T-Mobile announced Tuesday, the company said its LTE network now covers more than 300 million people-the goal that T-Mobile had said it hoped to reach by the end of the year.
Shares of T-Mobile were off slightly in pre-market trading, changing hands recently at $40.60, down 78 cents, or more than 1 percent.
That trend continued in the third quarter. Net income was $138 million, compared to last year’s net loss of $94 million. T-Mobile expects free cash flow to be positive for the fourth quarter and full-year 2015.
T-Mobile today shared its Q3 2015 numbers, and once again the magenta carrier has added customers.
T-Mobile is rapidly deploying both Wideband LTE to add capacity to America’s Fastest LTE Network and Extended Range LTE to enhance coverage and in-building performance. T-Mo expects its Extended Range LTE to be in more than 350 markets by year-end.
For the full year, T-Mobile now expects to add 3.8 million-4.2 million branded postpaid customers, compared to its previous forecast of 3.4 million-3.9 million.
