Modi Slapping BJP’s Ideology on People Shameful: Sonia
Sonia ji will also address joint rally in Buxar and Manjhi in the afternoon.
All India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday accused the Narendra Modi Government of having digressed from the nation’s democratic ideals, posing a threat to democracy.
“Innocents are being killed on the basis of rumours. The government is imposing its political ideology on the people and weakening the edifice of our communal harmony”, she told a rally here. The way intellectuals are being attacked, they are being denied freedom to express their views. The Congress president also targeted the Union government for the spiraling prices of essential commodities like pulses, rising unemployment and the issue of farmer suicides.
Gandhi said Modi had repeatedly said that “what has Congress done in last 60 years, that Congress has not done anything”.
“Besides, it protected the social fabric for which it sacrificed its leaders”.
She also took on PM over his repeated attack on the almost six-decade-long Congress rule, retorting that her party had strengthened democracy which allowed Modi to become the Prime Minister. “If you can not see the progress brought by the Congress, then whose fault is it. It is yours”.
“Let alone creating fresh employment opportunities, 50,000 youths from Bihar engaged in the diamond industry in Gujarat lost their jobs”, the Congress chief said.
Mrs Gandhi, while addressing the rally in Jalalpur Assembly constituency in Saran district and Buxar, said Prime Minister’s DNA remark against Nitish Kumar was an insult to the entire state as well as the people who elected him as the chief minister.
Correlating the Assembly polls with the historical battle of Buxar, she asked the voters for a decisive mandate for the fight between two ideologies. The Congress party is contesting the election as a constituent of the Grand Alliance that includes the RJD and the JD (U).
