Modi thanks Cameron for affection towards India
Mr Modi addressed 60,000 fans who travelled from across the country to see him on Friday evening, during the first visit to the United Kingdom by an Indian prime minister for a decade.
The crowd chanted “Modi, Modi” through his 80-minute speech.
“The only stadium that could accommodate Prime Minister Modi at this particular time is Wembley Stadium”.
British Prime Minister David Cameron on Friday said a time will soon come when there will be a British-Indian prime minister.
“They said a “chai wala” would never govern the largest democracy, but he proved them wrong”.
Referring to increase in FDI flows, he said, “The world’s confidence in India was rising. This relationship has to be driven by private sector CEOs now”, Modi said on the second-day of his engagements here during his address to the UK-India CEO Forum. And once again we stand shoulder by shoulder. “India is full of youth, there is no reason for us to remain poor”, the PM said. He said much water had flowed down the Thames since his last visit 12 years ago. “Diversity is the speciality of India”.
British Prime Minister David Cameron (center R) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi (center L) stand on stage to sing the national anthems of both India and Britain at a rally to welcome the Prime Minister at Wembley Stadium in London, November 13, 2015. Modi has always denied any responsibility.
“There is no other two countries with such equation”.
The Queen presented to Indian Prime Minister gift, a dish Silver Pictures signed her and the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip, while granting Modi pictures of her to the Queen during her visit to India in 1961, in addition to other gifts include organic honey. “This respect is for the 115 crore Indians and India’s great cultural heritage”, he said. And I can say after 18 months of experience that today whoever speaks to India, speaks as an equal.
I am afraid the media looks at everything in a very binary way, that it is either a trade deal here or a deal there, and forget about the people side of it all. “India wants to see the development of green technology, we have a lot of expertise in that area”, he said.
