Modi to meet Sharif in Lahore
Modi landed in Kabul after his visit to Russian Federation.
Nawaz Sharif was born on 25th December 1949. Upon the arrival, Sharif introduced his family members to Modi. “Spoke to PM Nawaz Sharif and wished him on his birthday”, Modi had tweeted.
When asked if he was surprised about the timing of meeting between the two Prime Ministers, Haroon said, “It may look abrupt to us but it is clearly in the cabinet of Mr. Modi and his think tank which takes his moves”.
In a major surprise, Modi will be flying to Lahore this afternoon, his first touchdown in Pakistan, where he will meet his counterpart Nawaz Sharif. The meeting of the two leaders over shadowed the meeting of world leaders in Paris for climate talks.
Mr. Modi had arrived in Kabul in the early hours of today on his way back from a two-day visit to Moscow in Russian Federation.
It is expected that he will land in Pakistan at 2:45 pm. Narendra Modi also held a discussion with the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani during his stay in Kabul. However, the meeting didn’t last long.
While talking about Indian PM’s visit to Pakistan, he said that it will be moment of shame for Pakistan that Narendra Modi will visit Pakistan for such a short time.
The Indian Foreign Office has already confirmed the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Islamabad for attending the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) in September 2016.
Likewise, all worldwide flights were diverted to other airports.
The Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan are scheduled to meet next month to discuss modalities about the dialogue.
“It was agreed to continue and enhance bilateral contacts and work together to establish good neighborly relations”.
Prior to this, he had also extended birthday greetings to his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif.
