Modi Vows For Stronger Defence Cooperation With Malaysia

Mr. Modi said India drew strength from its diversity and his government was working to create an environment where enterprise flourished and everybody got basic needs like shelter, sanitation, water, health care and education.
The gate is a gift from India to mark the launch of Little India in Kuala Lumpur’s Brickfields suburb as a symbol of friendship between the two countries.
Modi then held a one-on-one meeting with Najib.

On the third and final day of his Malaysia visit, Modi began bilateral programmes with a ceremonial welcome here. “We have comprehensive defence and security relations”.
“We will look into expanding the development and usage of the traditional medicine”, Najib said.
These initiatives included currency swap and cross-border collateral arrangements, direct currency trading between renminbi and ringgit and designation of a renminbi clearing bank in Kuala Lumpur.
Both countries also agreed to establish linkages between the Centre for United Nation Peacekeeping of India (CUNPK) and Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre (MPC).
Modi reaffirmed India’s active participation in the ASEAN led security dialogue and cooperation forums and said the East Asia Summit must continue to support the evolution of an inclusive, balanced, transparent and open regional architecture for security and cooperation.
“India is now the bright hope for sustaining Asia’s growth, the Prime Minister said highlighting the importance assigned to the region by India”.
Prime Minister Modi will deliver a lecture today where his Singapore counterpart Lee Hsien Loong and a few other prominent leaders are expected to be present.
“This will enable us to recognise more degrees from Indian universities and polytechnics and technical colleges and more Indian degrees to be made available to Malaysia”, he said.
