Mom of Texans coach Bill O’Brien shares thoughts on ‘Hard Knocks’
Regarding “Ups and downs”, (Page B7, Saturday), I am a regular and avid reader of “Ups and Downs” editorial and commend you on Saturday’s advice to Texans Coach Bill O’Brien to refrain on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” from lacing nearly every message with a “bevy of F-bombs”.
“To be honest with you, he doesn’t talk like that when he’s home at all“, she said.
“We do a little bit more each day with him, and so far, so good”, O’Brien said, via the Houston Chronicle.
“I do feel like kind of a rookie because I didn’t get to play more than what, four games”, he said.
“And the one thing about him is, he’s a bright football player”. “Third of all…..I’m the man”.
He enjoyed being back on the field with his teammates even though many of them ribbed him after being out for so long, calling him the “new kid on the team”. The segment was mostly about his rehab and showed video from last week of Clowney working with trainers after the rest of the team had finished practice. Cushing takes a knee to the side of the drill, removes his helmet, and then sprays an angry combination of sweat and saliva mist from his mouth, a la Triple H during his ring entrance ritual.
Hopkins made him look silly, and Houston will need more of that with WR Andre Johnson gone, and RB Arian Foster on the shelf.
O’Brien has stated the team won’t rush Clowney back onto the field.
“It’s going to be great to be out there, rushing the passer and just putting my hands on other guys”, said Clowney, who had 24 sacks in three college seasons.
After seeing his rookie season end with a knee injury, Houston’s Jadeveon Clowney is progressing well. “He is very passionate, motivated, and focused towards getting back here and playing”.
