Monday Night Raw recap: Rusev ruins Roman Reigns’s night
Rusev stands tall over Reigns to end Monday Night Raw. Was he successful? Stay tuned. After congratulating Becky Lynch on becoming the first-ever SmackDown Women’s Champion, Mick Foley brings out his show’s Women’s Champion, Charlotte.
Three female Superstars battle in a Triple Threat Match on Raw, with the victor going on to challenge Charlotte for the Raw Women’s Title at Clash of Champions. Foley began discussing a title defense for Charlotte, so of course she was interrupted.
The Triple Threat No. 1 Contender’s match was fantastic. Your victor and new number one contender for the RAW Women’s title, Sasha Banks.
The WWE created a huge stir by having Triple H cost Rollins and Reigns the Universal Championship earlier this month, helping Owens to the Universal Championship. Since Owens is facing Roman Reigns later in the night, Jericho replaced him with “the lowest of the low”, Sami Zayn.
It would appear that Reigns will now continue his feud with Rusev and likely chase after the United States Championship whilst Rollins and Owens battle for Raw’s top prize, but overall it was a good episode of Raw with plenty of build up to Clash of Champions. Roman Reigns, with a spot in the main event at Clash of Champions at stake for Reigns. Roman Reigns by DQ after Seth Rollins interferes.
Restarting the match, Owens took control and gave Reigns a run for his money.
Monday Night Raw kicked off with a 30 minute long women’s segment which is a rarity in the WWE. Only time will tell. His guest was meant to be Kevin Owens, but he had to find a substitute, so he introduces Sami Zayn. A giver of the Gift of Jericho. The two threw jabs back and forth and it ended with Y2J attacking the Underdog from the Underground.
Aside from the aforementioned Six-Man Tag Team Match and the forfeited Rollins/Reigns match, every bout featuring one member of The Shield was a title bout.
Cesaro isn’t out of it yet!
Sheamus vs Cesaro clashed for the fifth time in the Best of 7 Series. He grabbed the ropes with his foot and rolled Sheamus up for the victory. His tag team partner Kevin Owens just became WWE Universal Champion, which meant Jericho chose to fulfill his friendly duties & kick KO’s former best friend, Sami Zayn, while he was down. The deserving candidates, Sasha Banks and Bayley were present inside the ring and even Dana Brooke inserted herself into the mix by slapping Charlotte. Brandon Scott by pinfall via a reverse swinging neckbreaker. Cesaro made the series three and two as he defeated Sheamus via a pinfall.
Gallows and Anderson take out Kingston on the apron, and hit the Magic Killer on Woods for the win. Anyway, after a weird promo Jinder Mahal and Swagger clashed on RAW as the American hero hit some big clotheslines and a spinebuster on his opponent.
– After the match, Rusev attacked Reigns and locked in the Accolade, then stood over him as the show ended.
