MONEY MANZIEL: Johnny signs $100 bill before game against 49ers

After the game, Manziel seemed to acknowledge that he’s trying to improve upon his limited experience, telling reporters (via Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot), “I’ve only gotten to play six or seven games”. These numbers won’t wow anybody, and the extra time Manziel has had over nearly two seasons surely benefit him over actual rookies.

Manziel received support from a running game that has underachieved for the vast majority of this season. But are there enough to convince the Browns to bring Manziel back next season?

In the final three games the Browns face the Seahawks, Chiefs and Steelers, three teams on track for the playoffs.

If after last week’s shocking overtime win against the Bears we were anxious the 49ers looked just good enough for Jed York to rationalize keeping Jim Tomsula and Geep Chryst on the coaching staff, I think we can rest easy after yesterday’s disaster of a game against one of the worst teams in the NFL.

That is hard truth for many to accept, but if the results we are seeing on the field is in fact authentic, then the credit doesn’t all fall on Manziel. Again, while some of that has had to do with Manziel’s own missteps or lack of preparation, he still hasn’t played a full season, much less had much of a chance as a starter. While he wasn’t playing up to his usual high standards early on this season, he’s still regarded as one of the NFL’s top cover cornerbacks and his loss had a ripple effect through Cleveland’s defense.

That eventually might calm the angst over the reported $100,000 study of the quarterback position before the 2014 draft commissioned by the Browns that said they should select Bridgewater.
