Montana Man Jailed for Star Wars Spoiler Threats
Arthur Charles Roy of Helena, Montana got “angry”, according to police, because a student sent him a spoiler, ruining any chance of a fresh viewing of the anticipated seventh installment of the Star Wars franchise. He first appeared in court Monday, was held on a $10,000 bail, and is expected to be arraigned in a state district court in January, according to Broch.
The boy, identified in court documents as M.C., alleges that Roy became livid on Thursday when he disclosed a subplot of the new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, in a Facebook conversation.
The affidavit also says the boy was fearful Roy was going to come to “shoot him”. The school was placed on lockdown after students said they feared he would actually do it. That said, it isn’t stated whether the unnamed Facebook friend to Arthur Charles Roy had spoiled the film by accident, or deliberately tried to impart knowledge that Roy did not want to be privy to.
Not taking any chances, the friend reported the incident to a school resource officer and the authorities were called in.
Roy’s mother asked why her son was being arrested since it was only a BB gun in the photo, charging documents said. It’s not clear if Abbott has been assigned to this case.
