Montgomery County bank robbery suspect shot by witness – The Morning Call
A town official shot a suspected bank robber at about 10:18 a.m. Wednesday morning in Hatboro, according to multiple media reports.
The citizen who gave chase shot the suspect in the arm without injuring anyone else, but we would strong suggest not chasing or firing a weapon at a fleeing suspect in most circumstances, as it could very well wind up with the citizen going to jail along with the bank robber.
“A chase involving the suspect culminated here”, Gardner said, around 12:30 p.m., as police were leaving the rear lot of the Station Park office complex on Warminster Road, where the suspect was believed shot near the railroad tracks.
The incident began with a bank robbery of the TD Bank on S York Road in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, said Hatboro Police. There was no immediate word on his injuries, or the identity of suspect or witness. He was outside and was alerted when a dye pack exploded.
The suspect was then taken to Abington Hospital-Jefferson Health, where he was receiving treatment.
During the robbery, Way did not display a weapon but passed a note to a teller saying he would “start shooting” if he was not given money.
The TD Bank in Hatboro was cordoned off Wednesday morning, June 8, following a holdup. Authorities allege the first three robberies were committed by one man, Clark F. Leary, who remains in a Philadelphia federal detention center awaiting charges on the robberies that occurred between January 2013 and October 2015.
