More snow headed to western North Carolina
The National Weather Service has Lehigh and Hunterdon counties under a winter weather advisory with a forecast of 2 to 4 inches of snow on Tuesday, but Northampton County’s forecast calls for light snow. Forecasters added that warming temperatures on Monday would likely lead to a changeover to rain before precipitation changes back to snow Monday evening.
Temperatures are expected to be colder than normal for the first half of the week and become closer to normal or slightly above normal for the remainder of the week.
The NOAA says accumulations across eastern Long Island and southeastern CT could see 4 to 8 inches of snow. Clouds will increase this evening into tonight with lows in the 20s and 30s overnight. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. The heaviest snowfall is expected during Monday’s morning commute through the afternoon.
Snow should be expected until Wednesday, where it will dissipate in most areas. Western North Carolina will see winds out of the west northwest between 5 and ten miles per hour throughout the day.
Winter Storm Nacio, named on Monday afternoon, is set to shower 15 states with snow until Wednesday morning.
The forecasted high for today is only 30 degrees after the morning starts with a bone-chilling low of 13 degrees. Cloudy, with a low around 22. Wind chill values will be between 1 and 6 above zero.
AccuWeather meteorologist Tom Kines said snow could fall at any point today, tonight and tomorrow.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 26. This is especially true Tuesday night into Wednesday as snow showers remain possible with a low of 27.
Saturday: It will be cold and windy with highs in the upper teens.
Friday night: Mostly clear, low around 2 below. Even some locally higher amounts will be possible for the area, dependent on where some ocean-enhanced snow bands form.
