More Spider-Man Cast Members Added, Plus New Set Photos
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman did not exactly mince words when asked about the future of Spider-Man and the Sony/Marvel agreement.
Yes to both those questions. Woodbine is known for his role as Mike Milligan on FX’s Fargo.
“Sony has the ultimate authority”, he said.
Spider-Man: Homecoming has just begun filming, and there have been several casting announcements made during the last few weeks. Knowing that Marvel has such a clear, creative vision, I sleep very well at night. When it makes it to cinemas, Homecoming will become the first standalone Spider-Man outing presented under the Marvel Cinematic Universe umbrella, after he was introduced in Captain America: Civil War in April. If it does, it would certainly fit what the directors are aiming for with their new project, which is something altogether different than other Spider-Man films.

While Sony is eager to squeeze any and all juice out of Spider-Man and the characters that come with the property rights, they are beholden to Marvel’s grand scheme, as the Disney owned company now retains certain creative control over the web-slinger.
