More Than 1 Million Ram Trucks Affected in Recall
“Such wear may cause a short circuit that may lead to inadvertent driver-side air-bag deployment”, the United States unit (formerly Chrysler Group) of the global automaker said in a statement.
This is due to problems with the driver side air bag and steering in Ram pickups. It says an analysis of warranty data found that less than 1 per cent of trucks repaired for the problem had air bags that inflated without a crash.

The second recall covers 188,000 Ram Quad Cab pickups in the US from 2014 and 2015.
The latest big recall comes from Fiat Chrysler and involves potential air bag issues on more than 1.5 million trucks… The company said it knows of one crash but no injuries as a result of the problem.
Fiat Chrysler has not yet developed a fix for the problem. Owners of these vehicle will be notified by Chrysler and after an appointment will be set, the company’s dealers will be inspecting them to confirm that the battery harness is correctly routed and secured.
A total of 1697 RAM 1500 EcoDiesel is being recalled and FCA is informing every owner of the pickup truck personally.
An investigation revealed certain supplied steering components may have welds with insufficient fusion.
