Morgan Harrington’s mother reacts to Jesse Matthew Jr. being charged with
Jesse Matthew, the man charged with abducting and murdering Hannah Graham, was in an Albemarle County courtroom Wednesday facing the same charges in the Morgan Harrington case.
The Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney Office said Tuesday Jesse Leroy Matthew, Jr. has been charged with the first-degree murder of 20-year-old Morgan Harrington. A jury discovered him responsible then of capital tried homicide, sexual assault, and abduction with intent to defile for a brutal assault on a, WUSA-TV reported.
Harrington was a student at Virginia Tech and went missing after attending a concert in Charlottesville.
Police found forensic evidence linking Matthew to Harrington’s death in September 2014. His sentencing in that case is set for October.

The grand jury indictment in Ms Harrington’s death brings the total number of cases Matthew is charged in to three. “So she may have found someone who was loving and trusting and comfort her”, Carter said.
It is possible Morgan’s case could be tried first as the law requires it be tried within five months of the indictment unless Matthew waives his right to a speedy trial. Police said she disappeared shortly afterward and was not seen alive again.
“It’s hard to be happy, because [ultimately] you know your daughter is murdered”, she told CBS 6 reporter Laura French.

Her remains were found at an Albemarle County farm in January 2010. Matthew’s first appearance before the Albemarle County Circuit Court will take place on September 16, 2015.
