Morris, No. 4 Cyclones rally from 20 down, stun Iowa 83-82

Morris finished with 20 points while Jameel McKay added 20 more for Iowa State. Monte Morris floated a game victor, not his first, to finish the 20-point comeback. Uthoff got off to a hot start and never cooled off in the first half connecting on 11-of-13 shots from the field and finishing with 30 points … in the first half.
When court-storming safety issues are discussed, usually it’s the opposing players who have the biggest safety concerns in one of these situations with hundreds of fans coming onto the playing surface. In fact, their defense was so awesome that they held Uthoff to only 2 (!!!!!!) second half points.

As ugly as the first half was for Iowa State, the second half completely made up for it. The Cyclones showed they could learn from their mistakes, play better defense, create better ball movement and take better shots on offense, and play with intensity even when the situation seemed insurmountable.
Des Moines Register columnist Randy Peterson suffered what the newspaper says is an apparent broken leg when Iowa State fans stormed the court after a win over Iowa.
Maybe the injury will sway the NCAA to finally put a ban on court storming. This game could have had monumental effects on Iowa who have already lost to Dayton and Notre Dame. They beat the Cyclones down the floor nearly every possession, which led to easy buckets in transition.
“Personally, I’m the vocal leader on the team”. He couldn’t miss from the perimeter, and when defenders stepped out too far on him, he drove past them easily and created makable shots for himself around the rim. They needed someone to step up and make a play and no one did. Sure, the two teams are intrastate rivals.
Possibly the craziest part about the whole incident is Iowa State, ranked fourth in the nation, beat an unranked Iowa team and proceeded to celebrate like there’s no tomorrow.
