Mortal Kombat X PS3 and Xbox 360 Versions Cancelled
“Interactive Entertainment has come to the regrettable conclusion that we can not release Mortal Kombat X for PlayStation and Xbox 360”, Warner Bros. said.
It seems like the game developer NetherRealm has a huge announcement to be made on August 31, Monday, which is expected to be about either the much awaited “Mortal Kombat X” release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, or about the rumored Kombat Pack 2.
We were already asking questions about the previous-gen Mortal Kombat X versions back in May after they were quietly delayed and it looks like we were right to raise an eyebrow or two.
If the ports weren’t turning out well, then it’s for the best: Warner Bros. released shoddy last-gen versions of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor last fall, and this summer’s PC port of Batman: Arkham Knight was (and is still) an embarrassing mess.
Most major publishers have been trying to deliver both current and last gen versions of their AAA titles but often the full set of features for them can not be offered on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 because of limitations linked to hardware.
Like most cross-generation games, the PS3/Xbox 360 version of Mortal Kombat X would have been considerably less impressive than its PS4/Xbox One counterpart.
It’s unfortunate that gamers were left waiting for so long only to be let down.
After several delays, Warner Bros. After trying to close that gap for months, the publisher decided to cut its losses and ripped the game’s heart out like Kano.
While money may be a factor in sticking to the older consoles, now may be the best time to upgrade to the latest generation.
