Moscow denies having compromising information about Trump
Trump on Wednesday tweeted again, “Russia just said the unverified report paid for by political opponents is “A COMPLETE AND TOTAL FABRICATION, UTTER NONSENSE”. President Barack Obama and Trump had been briefed about Russian Federation having obtained compromising personal information, prior to CNN and BuzzFeed’s publication of the material.
In a series of tweets, Donald Trump reiterated his denial of the uncorroborated allegations published by Buzzfeed that claimed he had ties with the Russian government and was the target of potential Kremlin blackmail.
And Trump’s reaction to the more, erm, lurid details of the allegations? Here’s a timeline of the events surrounding “Golden Shower Gate”.
The charges that Russian Federation attempted to compromise Mr Trump were presented to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other US Government officials last summer and have been circulating for months.
Trump himself confirmed the CNN report when he blasted the IC accusing them of leaking what was discussed in the Friday briefing. Trump turned fire on the original sources of the material after slamming the media – namely CNN and BuzzFeed, the latter of which published the dossier itself – for reporting on the claims earlier this week.
Several media outlets had the dossier or knew a lot about it well BEFORE the election.
A USA official told The Associated Press Tuesday night that intelligence officials had informed Trump last week about an unsubstantiated report that Russian Federation had obtained compromising personal and financial information about him.
The officials said that USA intelligence agencies have not corroborated those allegations but believed the sources involved in the reporting were credible enough to warrant inclusion of their claims in the highly classified report on Russian interference in the presidential campaign. And I’ll tell you why.
“Late previous year, I received sensitive information that has since been made public”. I saw the information. “I saw the information, I read the information outside of that meeting”, he said, a reference to a classified briefing he received from intelligence leaders.
Without naming any other particular news organisation directly, Trump softened his tone toward those he believed scrutinised the intelligence report sufficiently. The president-elect has dismissed the information that surfaced publicly this week as “phony stuff” leaked by “sick people”. And it was gotten by opponents of ours, as you know, because you reported it and so did numerous other people.
In reading part of the 35 page dossier, what struck me was how in sync some of the allegations were with Trump’s comments on Putin and Russian Federation on the campaign trail and since his election.
“I do not think he would make things up – but I do not think he would always draw the correct judgement”. “And you, as reporters who give her all of these glowing reports, should ask yourselves why. That was something that was extraordinary that was probably China”.
