Boulder County Public Health officials urge residents to take necessary precautions to protect themselves.
According to statistics by the department, as of July 14 of this year, there has been one human case of West Nile Virus reported in Colorado.in 2014, there were eleven cases of the disease in Boulder County, 118 cases in Colorado and 2,205 cases nationally.
The virus also seems to be showing signs of existence in Tustin, Orange County. Tustin, for some reason, is a holdout. West Nile virus is transmitted to humans through mosquito bites from mosquitoes that are infected with the virus.
Public overall health experts from the originial and State of Utah recently declared that in fact West Nile hsv2 has always been seen in Utah.
In recent years, Tustin has not had a very large amount of infected mosquitoes swarming about, according to new “hotspot” maps county Vector Control has been creating, with about 10 years of virus research and data. Check for unused tires, clogged gutters, small recreational pools and poorly operating septic systems. “So, no matter where you live, now is the time to be proactive in protecting ourselves and our families from West Nile virus”.
To reduce the risk of West Nile Virus infection, residents are adviced to: drain all standing water in and around the home or workplace; wear loose, long and light-colored clothing; limit outdoor activities when mosquitoes are most active (dusk and dawn) and use insect repellents that contain DEET.
DRESS in long sleeves and trousers.
