Most Americans say send ground troops to fight ISIS
Our success won’t depend on tough talk, or abandoning our values or giving into fear.
“The threat from terrorism is real but we will overcome it”, Obama said.
Congress, Obama said, could bolster the anti-ISIS strategy by updating the 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force, which forms the underpinnings of the USA military battle against al-Qaeda and its offshoot, ISIS.
He also praised “closest allies” France, Germany, and the United Kingdom who have ramped up their contribution since the 13/11 Paris carnage to the USA military campaign against ISIS.
The strategy that we are using now – airstrikes, Special Forces, and working with local forces who are fighting to regain control of their own country – that is how we’ll achieve a more sustainable victory. As for the American Secretary of State John Kerry, he stressed that the deployment of Syrian or Arab ground troops was a must in order to defeat Daesh. The president said one of ISIS’s distinguishing characteristics is its exploitation of the Internet to “poison the minds” of would-be followers to commit mass murder in Western cities, such as Paris and San Bernardino.
FBI Director James Comey admitted that the investigation was coming upon “a lot of evidence that doesn’t quite make sense” and that there is much to uncover and piece together. Over the last few years, however, the terrorist threat has evolved into a new phase. Such a move, however, would not have prevented the San Bernardino shooting. This represents the president’s highest ever disapproval rating on the issue of the terror group. “They are thugs and killers”.
Meanwhile, as WSWS.org noted: “The corporate media and large sections of the political establishment had been pressing for the mass shooting to be labeled as a terrorist attack from the moment it emerged that the two suspects, the US-born Farook and his wife, who was from Pakistan, were both Muslim”.
For today’s Fox Topix, we want to know: Is enough being done to fight the threat from ISIS and other terrorists? He also called on Congress to pass legislation that would ban people on no-fly lists from getting guns.

About half of the states say they do not want Syrian refugees, but I believe the federal government will decide where they will be placed. At the same time, Obama challenged Congress to be a partner in the fight by voting to authorize force in the ongoing conflict.
The survey also finds that Americans are concerned about a terrorist attack happening in the U.S.in the near future. “We were founded upon a belief in human dignity that no matter who you are, or where you come from, or what you look like or what religion you practice, you are equal in the eyes of God and equal in the eyes of the law”, the President said.
