Mother of Gary Lineker dies
Mr Lineker, who did not present Match of the Day this weekend because of his mother’s illness, regularly visited the Island to see her.
Earlier in the week Lineker said he had been overwhelmed by the well-wishers for his mother after she had been ill, saying it was “massively appreciated”.
Morgan said: ‘So very sorry to hear that mate.
Now you would think that a message confirming the death of his mother would be spared such crass and offensive replies, considering the heartbreaking gravity of the situation and the deep offence it would cause.
She was being treated in the Tarragona Hospital near Barcelona, but Lineker brought her back to England. She was followed home from the hospital where she was receiving dialysis before stealing her handbag and taking her vehicle.
Thieves watched her withdraw cash and later spent more than £1,000 on her bank card at a clothes store in Leicester. I was holding her hand when she stopped breathing. She is going to although survive in my heart & mind.
Margaret died at about 1pm today.
He revealed Margaret had suffered from renal and kidney problems, meaning she needed regular dialysis. Finally she will be happy.
He revealed he’d miss the TV spot on Twitter at the time, writing: “I won’t be doing MOTD tonight”. Love forever’.
Gary’s brother Wayne, 52, also took to twitter to announce the sad news.
