Moto G 2015 vs Moto G 2014: What’s The Difference?
Unlike previous Motorola handsets, which used nanocoating to protect a phone from spills and light rain, the third-generation Motorola Moto G is actually waterproof with an IP certification of IP X7. To that effect, the camera is vastly better, it’s now waterproof, the battery capacity has been increased, and the build quality feels even more premium this time around. With such improvement to its body and specs, it is no wonder that many are surprised by its cheap price.
The new Moto G sports a 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front-facing camera. If a flagship is literally the standard-bearer, then it’s worth remembering that the Moto G is the Motorola phone that most people are going to use – it’s the phone that’s going to define Motorola.
The battery is now 2,470 mAh, which Motorola says should last 24 hours on mixed usage.
The Bad: Battery is not removable, no NFC.
Also, the smartphone will receive automatic eligibility to Android M software update which will be released later this year. There is not much of an upgrade in this aspect. That joins 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and Global Positioning System – no NFC for smartphone wallet aficionados, though. Photos tend to be accurate and sharp, especially in daylight where they suffer from little noise.
The new Moto G can definitely be regarded as the best looking and feeling one of all three that we have seen till date.
Overall, these two phones offer impressive fundamentals and no shortage of special features, all at a lower price than what you’d pay for a Samsung Galaxy S6 or iPhone 6/6 Plus.
Of course, you’ve got to talk about both phones’ features, as that’s what really sells devices. Some users, however, may take issue with the Moto X Style being thicker than the average flagship at 11mm at its thickest point.
However, if you can manage a slightly bigger device you’ll get a huge increasein performance with a 6-core processor, more storage, way better battery life, and a great camera. The device is water-resistant and can be submerged in up to a metre of water for 30 minutes with no ill effects. Combine that with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protecting the screen, and you have a pretty durable phone – much more so than other budget phones at this price. But if you plan on changing the colorful back covers on the phone, be forewarned.
