Moto X Android 5.1 Lollipop Update Halted by AT&T
Let’s look at the present Android situation for the LG devices. LG has not formally announced when Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is rolling out to the LG G4.
In concordance with Android Origin, LG is preparing for the Android M operating system.
However, over the past few weeks we’ve been seeing more and more complaints about the update to Android 5.1 for the original Moto X. A possibility exists that the Android 5.1 Lollipop update to the AT&T variant of the Moto X 2013 encountered some bugs, which is why the network operator has opted to abruptly pull the Wi-Fi-only update. Tech observers remain divided over whether LG plans to update their newest flagship to latest Android Lollipop firmware.
Considering that the G3 was just released last year, LG will still be supporting the device with firmware updates. Although, Motorola had a long time to get this update sorted out.
It was said that the reason behind the Moto X first gen not getting updated to Android 5.1 Lollipop is due to the fact that Motorola doesn’t have enough funds to get the update certified.
According to some reports from Phone Arena, there is a high possibility that LG is not planning to update its G3 smartphone to Android 5.1.1. For now, the LG G3 runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. There has also been a few reports that after each reboot the device has to “optimize apps” which is something typically only done once after major software updates. It remains to be seen how long it will take to deliver on that promise.
Rumors are doing the rounds that LG may be holding back the G2 and G3 for Android M. It is expected that Android M will come out later this year. This seems likely because Google will release the all-new Android update sometime later in 2015.
