Moto X Line-up and the Android Marshmallow Update
Motorola has started the rollout of its first Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates today.
I am happy to announce that we are starting initial deployment of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade for the following devices and channels: 2015 Moto X Style (3rd Gen) in both Brazil and India retail, 2014 Moto X (2nd Gen) in Brazil retail… The List includes: the 2015 flagship Moto X Pure Edition (Gen 3), Moto X Style (Gen 3), 2015 Moto X Play, Moto G (Gen 3), 2014 Moto X Pure Edition (Gen 2), 2014 Moto X (Gen 2) specific to Latin America, Europe and Asia, 2014 Moto G, Moto G 4G LTE (Gen 2), 2014 Moto Turbo, 2014 Moto MAXX, Motorola Nexus 6 and DROID Turbo. You can visit the official Motorola page to know more about the update. What this means is the USA versions aren’t getting updated now, but will likely be next and get the latest version of Android soon. Here’s what Motorola’s own David Schuster had to say.
For the full list, follow the source link at the bottom of this post, which will help you get acquainted with what Marshmallow has to offer. Furthermore, you can’t manually initiate the process yet – you need to wait for the update notification to show up on your device even if you’re in one of those two countries. While features like Google Now on Tap (for contextual information) and Doze (for battery management) are a few of its key highlights, the new update also brings along a new Memory Manager for all your installed apps, improved volume controls, a Do not disturb button in quick settings panel, a System UI Tuner in the settings menu among others. At this point in time, it does seem as though only Moto X Style units that were bought in Brazil as well as India will be able to enjoy the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, in addition to the Brazil-bought Moto X (2nd generation).
