Motorists find gas falls below $2 per gallon
Over the last month, gas prices statewide have fallen by 45 cents – settling in just above $3 a gallon as of Wednesday, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
“With much of the country now on winter gasoline, there is less pressure on prices during the upcoming fall maintenance season at the nation’s refineries”. Miller’s Market on Washington Way was a close second at $2.49 a gallon.
South Carolina continues to boast the cheapest gas in the U.S., AAA said. The largest fall was in the Rocky Mountain and West Coast regions, each seeing an eight-cent drop to $2.61 and $2.70, respectively.
Drivers in the Santa Clarita Valley could see gas prices below $3 a gallon at a handful of local stations Wednesday.
According to gasbuddy.com, regular unleaded gasoline on Cape Cod now ranges from $2.25 to $2.50 a gallon.
Other seasonal factors are pushing pump prices down.
Montgomery said the sale of that fuel will likely start in November.
It’s not all rosy news, however.
“Retail gasoline prices have slipped 2 cents this week across Texas to settle at an average $2.05 per gallon”.
The decreases follow a nine-day streak of increases totaling 72.1 cents that pushed the average price to its highest amount since May 12, 2014.
Gas prices in New Hampshire fell nearly a nickel per gallon in the past week, to an average of $2.21.
