Motorola launches VoLTE-ready G4 and G4 Plus smartphones in India
Motorola has long flaunted its Moto G smartphones as a low-priced alternative to devices like Apple’s iPhone or Samsung Galaxy lineup, which can cost around $700 without a carrier payment plan. The pricing for the plain Moto G4 is yet to be announced, but it’s obvious that these are in roughly the same price range as before. A Turbo Charger will be available exclusively with Moto G4 Plus smartphone that allows users to get a battery backup of 6 hours by charging it for only 15 minutes. The other variant, however, sports a 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage.
The Moto G4 has a 13-megapixel rear camera sensor with F2.2 aperture, whereas the Moto G4 Plus features a 16-megapixel OmniVision rear camera sensor along with laser autofocus and phase detection autofocus support. Both the phones run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS. Moto Maker will also be an option.
The two phones are the same size – both feature a 5.5-inch 1080p display covered by Gorilla Glass with a micro-textured back. It brings a better 16MP camera on board as well as more storage options, including 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB.
Besides that, the G4 and G4 Plus are pretty much identical.
The Moto G4 Plus is set to launch first, and is purportedly launching in India and Brazil before making its way to Canada and the rest of North America this summer.
Motorola also announced that the Lenovo K5 smartphone is coming to the United Kingdom, and will be available from the likes of Amazon and Tesco next month from £129 SIM-free. There’s no “Moto by Lenovo” branding on the device as we would have expected. And to be honest, it feels a little confusing. Surprisingly this time around Motorola has partnered with Amazon and at least initially both the Motorola devices will be Amazon exclusive. But successful phones in the USA tend to come from focused flagship lines that don’t go through major overhauls into new models.
As before, the Moto G and Moto G Plus will be available in a wide variety of colors.
