Mourinho slams referee after defeat
The Blues suffered their eighth defeat, and fourth loss at Stamford Bridge this term, as Glenn Murray headed home a controversial victor eight minutes from time to leave the defending champions 14th in the standings and just three points clear of the relegation zone. “There is no chance that Chelsea will be fighting relegation”, he added.
Asked if he still has the confidence of the club, Mourinho said: “Yes, I believe”.
“We’ve never been in the Premier League before, so when you come to the champions and beat them, I think it must rank as the best individual result of the club’s history”.
The Spanish goalkeeper played under Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, where the two fell out, and Casillas is now at his former manager’s old club.
“If you analyse matches, and especially match after match, you can clearly identify a few players for whom it is hard to be consistent”, he said.
“People must feel responsibilities”.
“They played in a way that some call intelligent, some say is not fair play”, he said.
And while Chelsea are in their worst slump in as long as anyone cares to remember, Casillas knows Mourinho better than to underestimate them. “The responsibility for the bad moment is my responsibility and the players’ responsibility”.
Diego Costa dropped back to the bench and was only thrown on at half time as Mourinho looked to inject some life into his struggling side.
“As a wide or attacking player you are judged on assists and goals so if I can provide them, I’ll be happy”.
“The referee made an important mistake”.
“Quietly he will be very upset with him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he unleashes him against Porto because he is a quality player”.
With the Belgian dropping deep or to the flanks in order to get the ball where he is more comfortable, it left the box completely devoid of a Chelsea presence which helped Bournemouth in keeping a clean sheet. On Wednesday we have to win to make sure we are first [in our group] and qualify [for the knockout stages]. “I can just work and that is what I am going to do to try to get a result on Wednesday [at home to Porto] to get through to the next round of the Champions League”.
