Mourinho targets Premier League title but insists Chelsea will not spend like
Chelsea captain John Terry has warned Arsenal that their Community Shield victory over the champions will count for nothing once the real action starts in the Premier League this weekend.
The same back four from last season seem to have a better understanding, while the signing of Petr Cech has given them a huge boost as they try to win the title this time around. In any case it is good to have broken the run against Chelsea and regain some ascendancy.
“Diego’s a top player so he would be missed in all sides, but we have three great strikers and they will all be fighting”, Terry said.
“But I also have my opinion, different from your opinion”.
Chelsea boss Mourinho lured Falcao to Stamford Bridge on loan from Monaco despite a poor return of just four Premier League goals during an unhappy spell with Manchester United last season.
When asked about Keane’s comments, Oxlade-Chamberlain said: “It is a new era, isn’t it?”
Whilst the encounter between the Premier League champions and FA Cup winners is classed as a friendly, developments over the summer around these two clubs makes this a potentially feisty encounter.
In response to Mourinho’s assertion, Wenger denied snubbing his counterpart, saying: ‘I shook a few hands after the game, but there’s nothing special there. Arsenal went on to protect the lead with a resilient display, playing mostly with nine men behind the ball, with Theo Walcott as the main outlet the gunners looked to counter attack Chelsea. “I only think about match after match and each one is hard”. “It is quite frustrating for a manager to be pushed in his technical area and to see the opposite manager stay in his position, not being punished, so I agree totally with that”.
“The transfer window is over, you know what I mean?”
“It’s served a good objective for that, but obviously we’re disappointed we didn’t win”.
Cahill didn’t appear to be too concerned over the defeat, instead has focused his mind-set on Chelsea’s final pre-season fixture against Fiorentina, explaining that “We’re confident, we have a good squad and another game on Wednesday”. As long as I get it served every time in press conferences it can have an impact on the team.
Without question Arsenal have improved since the dog days of last December, when a loss at Stoke City prompted furious fans to verbally abuse Wenger as he boarded a train home, yet they still have to turn tantalising potential into tangible rewards.
