Mourinho: Win Was For Bullied Chelsea Kids
A few respite came the way of Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, after a fine free kick by Brazilian midfielder gave the Blues a 2-1 win against Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League. The players they showed once more they want to win and today they did it. They showed again they want to win and the fans they showed again passion for the club.
“To win after conceding a goal with 15 minutes to go, it’s important”, said Mourinho.
“Today, that was flawless. As you can see on the pitch, when a goal is scored we are together”, he added.
The result put Chelsea in second place on seven points, behind leaders Porto on 10. “They need to control games, rather than panic [when they go a goal down]”.
Mourinho is now appealing against a separate suspended one-game stadium ban imposed upon him by the Football Association for criticising the referee after Chelsea’s 3-1 home defeat by Southampton last month. “He’s been playing very well for a long time”, Mourinho said. From a metal point of view it was important to have a reaction to a negative moment.
“We knew with a draw that if we win the next two matches we would qualify in second”.
“They [my teammates] are saying I did well and I should keep it up and improve”.
The Kiev side were more dynamic after the interval and Dragović made amends for his first-half mistake by taking advantage of Chelsea’s weak defence; he equalised for Dynamo in the 77th minute. Nevertheless, winning always seems to cure controversies, and a win would certainly be a huge relief to the club and its fans.
It is clear his confidence has grown, traveling to Stoke over the weekend will be another great challenge not only of his growth as a player, but Chelsea’s as well after getting a much-needed victory. They read blogs. And this is quite unbelievable what they tried to say today.
“I think it is an wonderful feeling for the club to know the fans are in a good moment and to see the streets full of people celebrating with a buzz”, he said. “When the negative moment comes, the team shake a little bit, but today we were prepared for the negative moment because they are coming every match”.
