Mourinho won’t quit, blames referee for defeat
“I think it’s time for all of us to be together now in the bottom of the league”. At 1-1, it is a huge penalty and once again we don’t get.
Speaking after the game, Jose Mourinho claimed “let’s be honest: referees are afraid to award decisions to Chelsea”. There is always a question, there is a critic, so we are always punished. Oscar and Falcao also started despite not travelling to Porto in midweek, the latter more as a result of Diego Costa completing his suspension. In other matches we see the same thing and that doesn’t happen. Clear penalties are not given.
Fabregas was yellow-carded for diving in last December’s fixture at St Mary’s and Mourinho was furious there was no penalty award then.
“The team, mentally, psychologically, is unbelievably down”.
“Maybe the situation is so negative that a young player feels less pressure than when the team is top of the league”.
“I get it as a fantastic experience – an experience that I don’t want to repeat”.
“I’m more convinced that we will finish top four and that is okay”.
“If they sack me they sack the best manager this club has had”.
Sunday’s Premier League slate is about as entertaining a three-match slate as any neutral could want, with the Merseyside Derby joining one of the league’s best all-time rivalries and two free-flowing managers matching wits in Wales.
The pair of Cahill and Zouma aren’t doing all that great as well and putting Terry in the centre of defence should provide them with a lot of leadership and at least a little bit of stability and decision making at the back. “Why? Because Chelsea can not have a better manager than me”. So I want to carry on. Bad results attract bad results. I don’t want to be non-polite.
For Chelsea and Mourinho, there wasn’t much sympathy to be found online… And when you’re top, you want to see people come down. The penalty is clear. Northeast rival Sunderland moved ahead on goal difference with a 2-2 draw against West Ham. “The team is in such a low moment and they collapsed”.
Fragile is a word that would certainly seem to sum up the current state of mind of the Chelsea squad.
If a player receives treatment he has to temporarily leave the pitch – meaning Chelsea, who already had a man sent off, had to play with nine men for a short period. So with all the turmoil surrounding the team, the question is: is it time for Mourinho to go?
He appeared to use his post-match interview with Sky Sports to send a message to Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, asking to be given time despite the ongoing crisis at the club.
“He knows that he made the mistake and knows the team was punished by that, but he is another one that is strong enough to cope with it”.
Jose Mourinho spoke to the media following his side’s 3-1 loss to Southampton, and addressed any rumours concerning his resignation.
Pelle also assisted two goals in a Premier League game for the first time.
