MQM chief Altaf Hussain to observe hunger strike outside 10 Downing Street
The MQM chief has decided to go on a hunger strike against what he calls “illegal” detention of his party activists by security forces.
It is also said in the press statement that MQM is being dealt with double standards because no action is taken against the banned religious outfits over hate speeches.
The MQM chief said that he will start his hunger strike as soon as he gets an approval from the local administration in London.
In a statement issued by the party, Hussain had claimed that Pakistan’s federal and provincial governments, Army, Rangers and Police were involved in the “genocide” of Muhajirs, both economically and physically.
“Rabita Committee will be responsible for running the party affairs after my death”, said Hussain, adding that it will be up to the coordination committee to continue the movement or to announce its end.
A court in Karachi on Monday sent Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Qamar Mansoor into Rangers custody on transit remand.
Rangers officials said a case has been ledged against the MQM Rabita Committee member under anti-terrorism laws.
Sindh Rangers DG Major General Bilal Akbar in a statement had stated that those arrested in “Nine Zero” raid have been “arranging and facilitating hate speeches” against Karachi’s peace.
