MQM, JUI-F decides not to withdraw anti-PTI motions
Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) wanted to table the resolutions.
The participants of the meeting are discussing the Report of Judicial Commission on alleged rigging in the general election 2013.
PTI vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that voting on the resolutions should not be delayed as the members do not want this issue hanging over heads.
Talking to Dawn, Leader of Opposition Khurshid Ahmed Shah said that like in the past the PPP would continue to play its role to strengthen democracy and parliamentary system and it had decided to vote in favour of the PTI in the assembly.
While talking to media persons in Islamabad, Information Minister said that Prime Minister urged both the parties for withdrawal of their resolution in a meeting of the parliamentary parties here.
Earlier on April 22, members of the MQM and the JUI-F requested the NA speaker to consider motions moved by MQM MNA Muhammad Salman Khan Baloch and JUI-F MNA Naeema Kishwer.
The PTI deputies are attending the first session of the National Assembly, which has met after a verdict by the judicial commission verdict that rejected the PTI’s allegations that the 2013 national election was rigged.
They said in their motions said that that seats of the PTI members be declared vacant under clause (2) of Article 64 of the Constitution because they had been absent without leave of the assembly for 40 consecutive days of the assembly’s sittings.
But MQM members Asif Hasnain, Kanwar Naveed Jamil and Rashid Godil said the issue is not a petty one and should be resolved according to the law and the Constitution.
He said these projects include Diamir Bhasha, Dasu, nuclear projects and energy projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
He expressed the hope that the finance minister, who is a wise person, would not delay it further and find out its amicable solution. Replying to a calling attention notice moved by Maulana Muhammad Gohar Shah and others regarding non-replacement of the out of order and overloaded transformers in District Charsadda, Mardan and Lakki Marwat, Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali told the House that 382 transformers have been replaced in these districts for smooth supply of electricity.
The House will now meet tomorrow morning at 10.30.
