MQM Leader Abdul Rashid Godil Shot In Pakistan
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Friday, (MNA) Rashid Godil got critically injured after unidentified armed man tried to attack him at Bahadurabad area in Karachi.
According to Dawn.com, the MQM leader came through emergency surgery and now was said to be in critical condition due to extreme blood loss.
Liaqat National Hospital’s Dr Jahanzaib told that specialists have been called up from Islamabad for Rashid Godil’s treatment.
Before Tendering resignations, Rashid Godil was performing his duty in the assembly as an MQM’s deputy parliamentary leader.
On the other hand, policemen recovered eig-ht 9mm bullet shells from crime scene.
Tuesday’s attack took place as talks began at MQM’s Karachi headquarters with intermediaries trying to convince the party’s lawmakers to withdraw their resignations from parliament that were submitted last week in protest against the crackdown.
Earlier, Sattar said the talks with the JUI-F chief were held following a telephonic conversation between Altaf Hussain and Fazl.
Senior MQM leader Haidar Abbas Rizvi said the next 48 hours would be crucial for Godil. The attack on Godal comes just two days after Punjab interior minister, Colonel (retd) Shuja Khanzada was killed in a bomb attack at his office in Attock.
MQM initially claimed to represent the Urdu-speaking migrants who moved to Pakistan with the partition of India in 1947 and has strong influence in southern Sindh province but has been accused of operating like an organized gang through its alleged use of violence and intimidation.
In a statement, Sindh Rangers spokesman said that investigation of the attack has been launched from different aspects its perpetrators would be brought to justice soon.
