‘Mr. Robot’ renewed for Season 3 on USA Network
Is anyone surprised USA Network renewed Mr. Robot for a third season?
NBCUniversal President Chris McCumber is thrilled about the series, saying, “We couldn’t be more proud of Mr. Robot, a series that has pushed boundaries, captured the cultural zeitgeist, and been honored as one of the best dramas on television”.
“Mr. Robot” season 2 is already rolling, but some of the events featured in the first season warrant a second look. Sam Esmail has seen a good deal of success with his Mr. Robot series, which airs on USA Network and Amazon Prime Video in the United Kingdom.
We’re about halfway through Mr. Robot’s second season, and it’s been met with some mixed feelings.
Despite critical acclaim, Mr. Robot’s renewal was not a guarantee.
The drama hails from Universal Cable Productions, writer and executive producer Esmail (“Comet”) as well as Anonymous Content executive producers Steve Golin (“True Detective”) and Chad Hamilton (“Breakup at a Wedding”). This is, after all, a show that has become a critical darling for many, and is considered one of the strongest and most innovative series now on the air. Not by a long shot, because Mr. Robot is getting a third seson. “I think they’re very respectful and supportive”. The cast includes Rami Malek, Portia Doubleday, Christian Slater, Carly Chaikin, Martin Wallstrom, Grace Gummer, Michael Cristofer, and Stephanie Corneliussen.
That being said, Mr. Robot’s Season 2 plot pieces do appear to be finally falling into place concerning Elliot’s extorted ordeal at the hands of Craig Robinson’s opaquely evil human trafficker Ray.
The show has received numerous accolades – it garnered six Emmy nominations, including one for Outstanding Drama Series, putting it in the company of popular series like Game of Thrones and House of Cards, and a nod for Malek himself as Outstanding Lead Actor.
