MSU memorial for player, father killed in crash
Mississippi State safety Jamal Peters will wear a No. 99 jersey to honor his late teammate Keith Joseph Jr. during Saturday’s game against Alabama, the university announced Friday.
18, were killed in a auto accident last week nears Leakesville, Mississippi, while traveling to watch a high school where both of them also played in Pascagoula.
Peters, who normally wears No. 12, has 17 tackles, two pass break breakups and a sack for Mississippi State this season.
Joseph, a freshman defensive end, was killed in a auto accident November 6 along with his father, former MSU linebacker Keith Joseph Sr. The Bulldogs will wear a special “MJ” helmet decal honoring both Josephs vs. the Crimson Tide, “MJ” having been the younger Joseph’s nickname among his teammates.
“There have been a lot of prayers and a lot of thoughts coming from all over MS and pretty much the United States”, Pascagoula coach Lewis Sims told the Biloxi Sun Herald. Funeral services are set for Friday.
