MTV reveals premiere date and new trailer for Shannara Chronicles
If you took Lord of the Rings and The Hunger Games and tossed them in a blender built by The CW, you might end up with something like MTV’s The Shannara Chronicles NYCC trailer.
The three heroes are played by Austin Butler as the half-human, half-elf Will, Ivana Baquero as human rover Eretria and Poppy Drayton as Elvin Princess Amberle. And as the visually stunning brand-new clip – which was just unveiled at New York’s Comic Con – shows, the diverse trio of characters (Amberle, Wil and Eretria) are about to embark down an arduous road in the post-apocalyptic world. There will be plenty of time to get to know these photogenic young heroes as the marketing campaign continues.
Watch the unbelievable action unfold in the trailer below, and be sure to stay with MTV News for more “TSC” updates leading up to the big premiere! “It’s really good”, he told Paste in July, while acknowledging that he might be “somewhat biased”.
The Shannara Chronicles will premiere in January 2016.
MTV is taking a step deeper into the fantasy realm of TV this January with The Shannara Chronicles.
Jon Favreau and Smallville duo Al Gough and Miles Millar will produce the show, which is based on the 20-strong series of novels (there has been one graphic novel also – The Dark Wraith Of Shannara – published back in 2008) in Terry Brooks’ Shannara saga.
