MTV’s ‘Scream’ finale reaction: Boss on surprise twist, killer reveal
We were constantly theorizing on who we thought the killer was, who an accomplice might be – but once I found out, I kept my lips sealed. A group of teens – with two old friends struggling to reconnect at its heart – become lovers, enemies, suspects, targets and victims of a killer who’s out for blood. Maggie fills Emma in on Branson’s escape-which the police believe, as we discussed last week, was much too staged to actually have been committed by the guy. Emma tries to take a stab at Piper but Piper slashes Emma across the stomach instead. Very suspicious.
So Emma and Noah went to Brooke’s and they were hoping they could go there and end things once and for all.
Brooke (Carlson Young), who is still having a hard time dealing with Branson (Bobby Campo) and her dad’s arrests, as well as her mom’s stint in rehab, decided it was best to throw a massive party. That’s when Emma gets a call from the killer, who says tonight’s the big finale and things are gonna get “gut-wrenching” if Emma doesn’t put the puzzle together. Mother and daughter bonded over epic tragedies, just as Piper (suddenly) showed up to the scene of the crime.
Maggie and Emma make it and find Clark. They start untying him but the ropes were holding his wounds closed.
Piper shows up on the scene, while Maggie’s feeling an enormous amount of guilt, but Emma tells her, “We can’t let him win”. Something’s fishy with her phone because texts aren’t going out or in. Noah tries telling Emma to go to the cops but the killer is listening and warns her not to. Noah helpfully informs her that all of her friends are going to die one by one until she’s left. Now it’s up to Noah and Emma to save the day and change the way this story ends. The lights eventually went out, and after a few seconds, the killer’s face appeared outside her door. Jake of course has to show up drunk as his obnoxious self just in time to make Brooke jealous, but Brooke returns the favor by hitting on some random preppy loser. Just as Brooke goes back inside her house, Branson shows up. Jake then follows her inside, apologizes and admits that he was spying on her. But the spyware was deleted and put back up and he was trying to figure out who did it. But then she kicks him out.
At Brooke’s house, Jake’s side chick finds the dead body of a poor bystander. When everyone rushes away, Audrey goes to investigate. “What are you waiting for?” a stone-faced Audrey asks. Brooke then came outside after fetching bottles of wine from the basement, and started freaking out once she realized everyone left. She unleashed plenty of anger on her mother for leaving her behind and making the world think her father was a psycho. Did she actually kill anyone? He tells her about a masked man who released him from prison. Anyway, once inside the house, they found Brooke set her free.
That’s when the outside lights go out.
I don’t know. I would love to get to come back. So of course she doesn’t listen.
Noah and Emma rush into the danger without any protection. They suspected he might be responsible for the latest murders, but he eventually handed over his gun to Emma to prove he’s innocent. At the station, Emma get a call from Noah.
NEXT: So who’s behind the Brandon James mask? He tells her that the killer killed the deputy on guard to make it look like he killed him. Kiernan then gives Emma his gun as a sign of trust, and they hug it out. So Brooke and Audrey can’t reach out to their friends to find out what was the hold-up. And they found Brooke slowly dying in a freezer. Emma panics because Brooke, Audrey and Jake are all there. Kieran tells Noah to check the back porch. She and her mom find a clue in the officer’s mouth.
OK, your turn. Did you have Piper pegged as the killer? He has Maggie at the dock where it all began, and Emma needs to go there by herself. The killer shows up and knocks her out. “Hey, sis, surprise!” she says. Emma had thought Maggie had a son. She finesses it. And then for Ghostface, I mean, Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) is the ultimate killer!
TVLINE | Your final scene is so long and complex – you’re fighting with Emma, you’re gunned down into the lake. She also admits to framing Mr. Branson. But I still tried to keep it as cool as possible when doing my scenes with Emma because Piper wouldn’t blow her cover like that.
After you found out the truth, how did that influence how you played Piper? But remember that incident when Will had pushed Piper out of the way and got stabbed for it. Yes, well, that was humanely impossible for Piper to have done alone.
During Tuesday’s season one finale of the MTV series based on Wes Craven’s horror franchise, true crime podcaster Piper Shaw (Amelia Rose Blaire) was unmasked as the killer targeting Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) and the town of Lakewood. “You’ll never see it coming”, she says. I knew it! Audrey is shown burning the letters in order to hide the evidence. The trio had a tense conversation, where he revealed a text he received from Emma asking him to meet her, but Noah was not buying his tale, and when Emma revealed that he could be the son of Brandon James he was stunned and called Piper’s bluff on her admission. He has no idea what’s going on since he just came back from a walk at the lake. The mask came off and it was none other than Piper. Emma and Maggie are both okay and the nightmare’s finally over.
