Multiple Georgia QBs getting first team reps; Bauta to start vs. Florida?

First, with Joe Tereshinski hurt, he went with Joe Cox over a struggling Matthew Stafford. When Tereshinski returned, and with Georgia then losing games to Tennessee and Vanderbilt, Richt turned back to Stafford for the remainder of the year.

That kind of opportunity has pushed Mark Richt and the coaching staff to open up a few of the positional competition, particularly at quarterback.

“It sounds like a lot, and I’m always surprised after games that I had so many carries”, Michel said.

But based on what he said when asked about the current state of the quarterbacks, don’t rule out the possibility of a different signal caller under center in Saturday’s game against Florida. “We’re going to continue to do that”, Richt said.

Bauta was one of the three quarterbacks who battled for the starting job during the spring and summer, but fell to third in the depth chart behind Brice Ramsey and eventual starter Greyson Lambert. He threw for 178 yards with one interception and no touchdowns against Missouri. In that season, Richt made a change twice. He said the most important point is Georgia (5-2, 3-2) can still control its hopes of playing in the SEC championship game.

“The main thing is that you don’t let the fact that only half of the stands are full of Gators fool you”, Richt said.

Right had no way of knowing it, but the nature of the business ended up having a profound effect not just on Florida, but on Richt’s own program.

Georgia did not make Lambert available for interviews last week or on Tuesday. As a Bulldog, he has played in 14 games, recording 10 rushes for 46 yards and two touchdowns, and 48 yards via 4-of-5 passes.

Ramsey has made appearances in four games – Louisiana-Monroe, Vanderbilt, Southern and Alabama.

“I don’t know how much I’m allowed to say”, Blazevich told reporters, via GridironNow. “I love my alma mater. I’m sure they’ll find a great coach”.
