Multiple People Dead After Another Movie Theater Shooting
Houser visited the theater a couple of times. The man who lives there now was shocked to learn this.
Calvin Floyd, the former host of Rise and Shine in Columbus, Georgia, said Houser was an “entertaining” guest and “pretty much a radical Republican”, who would go up against Democrats on timely news topics. He identified the two dead women as Mayci Breaux, 21, and Jillian Johnson, 33. At least one of the wounded, ranging from their late teens to their late 60s, was in critical condition, Craft said. Two were released from the hospital.
Houser reportedly starting shooting a few minutes into a screening of “Trainwreck”.
“He wasn’t saying anything”, Domingue said. My heart immediately starts to sink into my chest because I did hear a gunshot.
Stories of heroism emerged.
“The second teacher said the bullet was coming for her head if her friend hadn’t jumped on top of her. She had the presence of mind to pull the fire alarm”, said Jindal.
Houser had received an accounting degree and a law degree.
Russell County, Ala., Sheriff Heath Taylor said Houser was evicted from his Phenix City rental property. He is believed to have been largely estranged from his family and had few connections in the area.
In the same year he was refused a pistol permit. “It just seems like he was kind of drifting along”, Mr Craft said. His motives aren’t know and his only connection with Lafayette was an uncle he hadn’t seen in 35 years. Doug Cain said the theater investigation led them to a room at the Motel 6.
According to police and the state governor, the attack was an instance of indiscriminate violence. He said there were about 100 people inside the theatre at the time of the shooting. Keys, shoes and purses were all left behind.
Early Friday, about a dozen law enforcement personnel were gathered at a Motel 6 in Lafayette, where Houser had been staying.
A lone gunman sitting in a packed movie theater stood up and began firing into the crowd, killing two and injuring at least seven others Thursday night before fatally shooting himself, authorities said. Schumer made headlines recently for her provocative Star Wars photo shoot. He added: “This is an bad night for Lafayette, this is an terrible night for Louisiana, this is an awful night for the United States”. Let’s love these families. Instead, Jindal urged the country to concentrate on love and prayer.
“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the White House, including the President and First Lady, are with the community of Lafayette, Louisiana, especially the families of those who were killed”, a statement said.
The gunman who opened fire in a Louisiana movie theater, killing two people and wounding nine others, legally bought the handgun he used, officials said Friday.
The jury decided unanimously Thursday that the Colorado attack was cruel enough to justify the death penalty.
The Associated Press contributed to this report. “If you look at the number that have been killed by [domestic] gun violence, it’s in the tens of thousands”, Obama said in an interview with the BBC taped before the Louisiana shooting.
John Russell Houser, 59, blew into town in early July, Lafayette police Chief Jim Craft said.
One witness told the Louisiana Advertiser: “We heard a loud pop we thought was a firecracker”. Police were deployed to other theaters in Lafayette as a precaution, Craft said. Then, as people rushed from the theater, the 59-year-old man joined them and headed outside, apparently toward his blue 1995 Lincoln Continental.
Ms Martin then risked being shot by rushing over to the fire alarm at the edge of the auditorium and pulling it in a desperate bid to evacuate the building and save more people from the crazed killer.
