Mum Hears Son’s Heart Beat Again In Girl, 4
Clark got to listen to her son’s heart beating inside Jordan’s chest, hearing the gift of life her son gave.
While Jordan’s family tried to process the good news, Heather Clark, a mother from southern California, was mourning the death of Lukas, her 7-month-old baby boy.
Jordan’s mother, Esther Gonzalez, was anxious about meeting Clark for the first time.
According to the news outlet, Lukas died in 2013 after being abused by his babysitter’s boyfriend.
When asked how she was feeling before the meet up Clark said she was, “Excited”.
On Friday, the families met each other for the first time since the lifesaving heart transplant with the donor network of Arizona at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
Donate Life Arizona wrote on Facebook Saturday: ‘Amid the unthinkable grief of losing her son Lukas, Heather made a decision that saved three lives. When she received Lukas’s heart in June of 2013, she got a second chance at a normal life.
Gonzalez’s daughter, Jordan Drake, suffered from a congenital heart defect and desperately needed a heart transplant. “If there was a camera in front of him, he was either smiling or sticking his tongue out”.
The clip shows the precise moment that Jordan’s heart is heard by Ms Clark – who is heard to say: ‘Thank you, Jordan it’s ideal’.
In a January 22, 2016 post to the Facebook page, she wrote, “One week from today I will be listening to Lukas’ heartbeat once again”.
When Heather Clark’s 7-month-old baby was killed in 2013, she made the decision to donate his organs, FOX 10 reports.
“I don’t think she (Jordan) understands what Heather has done for her”, Gonzalez said.
The families had been communicating through presents and drawings by Jordan, but had never met in person.
“He was just so outgoing”, Clark told KSAZ-TV.
“I’m not going to say anything”.
Clark and Jordan hugged while meeting for the first time.
“I’ve run out of words at this point now”, Esther said.
Gonzalez told Fox 10 Phoenix: ‘We’re family now, we’re friends now, our families are families, we’ve brought our families together’.
